![]() Haseo // Ryou Misaki Series .hack Conglomerate (.hack//Roots and .hack//G.U. specifically) Version Post - .Hack//G.U. Volume 3 Redemption Age Seventeen Gender Male Sexuality Bisexual Haseo has short platinum hair that’s spiked at the back and with two bangs that frame his face. His eyes are red and his cheeks are marked with red triangularish tattoos. The only other tattoos he has besides these are the red cog-wheel ones he has on both shoulders. He has an average build and is 174 cm (5’8”) tall. In the past his clothes always tended to be black with red but in his latest form, the Xth form, his clothing changed to a white-and-black scheme, signifying all the change he has gone through. The outfit in general isn’t too flashy, the only thing one might find odd about it is the cog wheel-like armour he wears. Haseo’s personality is one that has gone through a lot of change. When he started out in The World he was shy and anti-social to the point he wouldn’t look people in the eye (this is probably because of what happened in his ‘first adventure’). Not wanting to get betrayed again he kept his distance from people although he ended up in the Twilight Brigade guild where he tried to change a little for Shino’s sake. All this effort to be a little nicer went down the drain however when Shino got PKed (Player Killed) and put in a coma. The World stopped being a fun game for Haseo. His personality took a turn for the absolute worst at this point. All Haseo could think about was gaining power to defeat the one who PKed Shino (Tri-Edge) and bring her back. He became utterly ruthless and pushed former comrades away no matter how much they tried to reach out to him. He didn’t listen to anyone and just continued on his vicious power-hungry road. He wasn’t someone you’d approach for fun as he didn’t care about any other player but Shino. This changed when he finally met the one who PKed Shino and tried to take him on. Haseo might have become stronger, but only in terms of levels that were taken away with a flick of the wrist by the PKer. He was back to square one and at a loss of how to save Shino now. Other players approached him and although they annoyed Haseo greatly, he accepted them with the thought he could use them and then discard them again. He also learned he had a special power, the Avatar, and despite the fact that using this power did not only endanger himself but was also harmful toward other players in real life, he abused it nonetheless. This power-hungry craze stopped eventually when he lost control over his Avatar and nearly put a friend in a coma. It was then he finally opened his eyes again and started caring about those around him. But with that he also started feeling more and more responsible for everything that happened and when his friends got hurt and he couldn’t help them, he had the tendency to beat himself up over it. His friends would pull him aside and do something to take his mind off whatever was bothering him and cheer him up. Because of this Haseo started being more considerate of other’s feelings and other players no longer were something to just be used and discarded. He stopped caring about ‘power’ for his power were his friends who believed in him and he felt stronger than ever before and he is content with that change. Now Haseo isn’t someone who sits by idly while things happen around him and his friends. He’ll do whatever he can, no matter how small of a difference it might make, to help. There’s still a bit left of the old personality though, the grumpy and distant attitude, but he’s a whole lot calmer and more willing to accept help from others. First and foremost is his ability to use several weapon classes out there in The World as an Adept Rogue. He started out as the Twin Blade, the class known for it’s agility and the use of two daggers. The second is the Edge Punisher, a class that uses huge swords and pure strength. Third the Flick reaper, a class that uses a scythe for wide-ranged attacks and his Final form is the Xth form. This form got created when Haseo accidentally broke the system rules and it granted him a weapon that wasn’t in the game: dual guns. This form can be compared to a mix of the Steam gunner (a class that uses steam-powered guns, bayonets) and the Twin blade. The guns are useful for a long distance range but the closer Haseo is to the target, the more damage the guns can do. Every weapon has it’s pros and cons but Haseo can switch weapons easily to fit the battle. He can never take out two weapons at once however. He doesn’t visibly walk around with these weapons either, rather he can just summon them up out of nowhere. To get a feel for how he does this, there's a video: Here. Haseo also has some basic magic spells, like curative magic and a few offensive spells, but he doesn’t use this much as his style is more a slash-at-things-until-they-die kind. His other power is that of his Avatar. As an Epitaph User he can summon up his Avatar, Skeith. This is a special ability that only seven more other players beside him have. Skeith is pretty powerful as he uses something called Data Drain to gather information with. This does quite a lot of damage and if used the wrong way it puts people into comas. Data Drain aside, Skeith uses a scythe to slash at things with and can use bullets of some sort to stun his enemies. An Avatar can be dangerous to the Epitaph User themselves but luckily Haseo has complete control over Skeith now. Every Avatar has a distinct pattern when they are being summoned, it is also required for the Epitaph User to call out to their Avatar. His brashness can be a major fault as Haseo tends to rush into situations without thinking. Tact just isn’t something he’s very good at. He also tends to take an obsessive interest in things and once he’s convinced of something it becomes very hard for others to talk him out of it. Because of this he’s easily downtrodden when something he was so convinced of gets crushed. He’ll start beating himself up over it too until someone snaps him out of it. In the end I guess you could say Haseo is just very human, he needs to be able to rely on others to keep him on a straight path. Ryou’s story takes place in 2017, where technology has advanced quite a bit. In this time an online MMORPG known as ‘The World’ has become a very popular game pretty much everywhere on the planet. Ryou is one of those many players and he started the game out as an Adept Rogue named Haseo. His first adventure ruined the game for him quite some right off the bat. Two players offered to help him, seeming friendly enough and admittedly needing the help as he was just starting out Haseo accepted the offer and they helped Haseo through his first dungeon. Everything seemed just peachy until the two players suddenly turned on Haseo and killed him. The two turned out to be Player Killers who went after newbies. Haseo felt quite betrayed but suddenly a stranger came out of nowhere and saved him. The only thing this stranger told him was that his name was Ovan, Haseo had a special power, he needed to grow stronger and that they would meet again soon. Haseo was intrigued by this ‘Ovan’ but soon came to find out that the rest of The World was too. After his encounter with Ovan several people approached Haseo with questions about Ovan. This only made Haseo more curious and he joined the Twilight Brigade guild that Ovan was the leader of. The guild’s purpose was to find a legendary item known as The Key of Twilight that may not even exist at all. Still, the days in the guild weren’t bad but they got into a conflict with another guild known as TaN. During this battle Ovan mysteriously vanished and the Twilight Brigade fell apart. Haseo still stuck with Shino though, who had been the second in command of the guild and someone who Haseo had developed feelings for. Even that was taken away from him right in front of his eyes though, when Shino got PKed by the infamous PK Tri-Edge and her real self fell into a coma. Haseo swore to find the PK who did that to her and started on his ruthless power-hungry road where he became known as the PKK (Player Killer Killer) Haseo – The Terror of Death. Eight months later he finally found Tri-Edge again and faced him. When he did he got Data drained and his level went from 133 to 1 in an instant, he lost everything. He ran into Silabus and Gaspard after that, who mistook him for a newbie and tried to help him. Figuring it would be the best way to regain his power he reluctantly went along with them. He also ran into other players, such as Atoli from the Moon Tree guild who’s PC was very much like Shino’s, and got recruited into the G.U. guild where he learned he was an Epitaph user. He made a deal with Yata (the guild’s leader and a system administrator) that he would lend them his powers as an Epitaph user to fight AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Data Anomaly, a virus of sorts) in exchange for information about Tri-Edge. When Haseo entered the Demon Palace Tournament he finally awakened his Avatar. With this new power he faced Tri-Edge once more and although he managed to defeat him, Shino did not wake from her coma. AIDA appeared after the battle with Tri-Edge and stole Atoli’s Epitaph (as they discovered she was an Epitaph user as well). With her Epitaph AIDA grew stronger but they were able to retrieve it. During this an AIDA-infected PKer managed to PK Alkaid, a new friend of Haseo’s, and she became a Lost One (people who fall into a coma because of AIDA) in Haseo’s arms much like Shino. They found out that Sakaki, leader of the Moon Tree guild, was behind this PKer’s attack. He took Atoli with him and managed to make the guild home of Moon Tree an AIDA server. Fortunately Haseo and G.U. could free her again and they defeated Sakaki. Ovan made an another appearance after that and suddenly revealed he was actually the true Tri-Edge, his left arm carrying the AIDA infection that had put Shino into a coma. Haseo and Ovan battle against each other but it ends in a draw. And if that wasn’t enough of a shock for Haseo, Sakaki had taken over G.U. and was granted the position of administrator because of his ability to control AIDA. However in the PK tournament he organized Haseo was able to defeat him once and for all. Haseo searched for Ovan again and when he found him, Ovan explained the reason why he needed Haseo to defeat him. It was so that he could release his Avatar Corbenik’s power of Rebirth that would reset the system and wipe out AIDA so he and his sister Aina could be cured. Although it wasn’t over yet as the next threat appeared after the system’s reset, Cubia. Who was not only a threat in The World but also the real world and had to be stopped. Haseo and the Epitaph Users were able to defeat Cubia with the help of Ovan who had sacrificed himself. The World returned to being a peaceful and fun game once more and although Ovan may have sacrificed himself, Haseo believes he’s still out there somewhere and continues to search for him. |
